This all comes down to the Madonna-whore complex which has been very useful to feminist as a baseline critique. The Madonna complex is basically the dual truths of femininity which is the the chaste purity of the innocent caring mother against a degraded prostitute. The Virgin Mary is the Madonna since her only child was created immaculately, that is, without having sex. Both stereotypes are fairly accurate caricatures of women and most societies force women to choose between the two. Either she suppresses her primal urges and lives a normal life or she becomes a whore. Freud's explanation for it is false which was that it's founded in the Oedipal urge to have sex with your own mom, this is obviously false (unless potentially in his case really). Anyway, women can really either only ever be mothers or whores.
