Fellow oldcel here. I was in HS in the mid to late 2000's. Myspace was popular in those days as well as older dating sites like PoF (plenty of fat) and they definitely made things a lot worse for men but I can't help but feel that it wasn't nearly as bad as it is today. I'd say it was around the rise of Tumblr (2011 or so I guess) when PC culture -- and by extension female hypergamy as a corollary -- started to get to the extreme levels that they're at today. And now here we are.
