To me any movie budgeted at $60 Million-$150 Million is considerable and I've seen Directors do wonders with that.

If I were a studio producer and had to make this ill advised adaptation; I would've gone for more violence and adult themes in an $80 Million movie, pushing world building and extended universe into the background.
