I find myself posting about sleep on here a lot because mine has been so wrecked by school stress and poor regulation in general.
What I've found is that in the late afternoon and evening, I am extremely lethargic (regardless of when I woke up that day). But then around 11 pm to midnight, I become alert and have peak alertness throughout the night. It's like my brain has been completely rewired in the most counterproductive way possible.
My sleep schedule of the past few days looked like this:

My sleep schedule of the past few days looked like this:
- Tuesday: fell asleep at 10:30 pm and woke up at 1:30 am (had taken an afternoon nap earlier that day)
- Wednesday: was consequently extremely tired, so took another afternoon nap => woke up at 6:30 pm; didn't sleep at all that night
- Thursday: forced myself to stay up the whole day to reset, fell asleep instantly at 10 pm; woke up for the last time at 3 pm Friday, and I got up
- Friday: the efforts to reset failed due to sleeping in so late, causing being awake at 4 am (today); note—I was very tired earlier in the night, but became alert later, demonstrating what I was talking about
