I'm fucking tired of academia. I hate the whole system. I was lied to and tricked by those woke propagandists called "teachers" who made me think that working hard on academics will get me somewhere.
Now I'm stuck in this fucking PhD in a stupid boring subject I only took because it's the only thing I know how to do. Almost everyone in my research group is in a relationship (my supervisor's wife is in the group) and it drives me crazy.
This isn't going to get me a good job, and won't increase my status or help in any way at all.
I went to a conference last week because it gave me an excuse to escape the office, and it was a pain talking to people who had retained interest in the subject while I just had to pretend to understand what was being discussed.
I want to drop out, but I also have no other alternative. I don't have any other skills because I've wasted my life on tests.
I wonder what my old teachers would think if they found out their old star pupil had no prospects in life.

Why did you go to graduate kek, what is your major, were you required to do so?

That describes my life as a studycel quite well. I was brainwashed from birth by parents and teachers who told me that studying 12 hours day and night would enable me to build a career and get rich.

@mistersinister constantly made threads about how his PhD program made his life a bigger hell than it already is, and he ended up roping.

I dropped out of college (not really college its different in my country) after a few months because of too much suifuel and moggers

and get women

staying motivated to do all this shit is hard as a sub5

Interesting.

What are you doing a ph.d in?

I mean no one had a gun to my head, but there wasn't really an alternative besides unemployment. My degree was in Mathematics.

Mathematical physics with a lot of computing and data analysis which I never wanted to do. (The goal was to be a theoretical physicist, but I wasn't good enough for that so had to settle)

When did you realise that your teachers didn't have your best interests in mind?

Holy shit, did he actually rope?

A pha is good enough bro

Mathematical physics is pretty much the back stage crew of theoretical physics who are in the spotlight, but help me understand why you're not "good enough" for that? You should understand basically all of it, if you know the math.

It hasn't been confirmed, but he hasn't been active on any forum nor has he been uploading on his Youtube channel. I hope he's still alive:feelsbadman:.

lmao this is just hitting you now?

I was getting brutally blackpilled during my bachelor's and hardly made it through for these same reasons. Glad I got a job instead of gradeslaving away for an institution that caters to sjw kikes and feminists.

Tbh, a PhD, you need to mAKE MOnEY with that.

Yeah, colleges/universities are woke. Nothing surprising. If knowing that before going in, then why subject yourself more to it or rather you should've gotten used to it by now for having been at college/university for this long and expecting the sort of you'll come across.

If you're studying the arts/humanities you'll come across more of that stuff.

I've never taken a gender theory course (usually that sort of stuff is just overhyped and excerbated) because I studied physics.

what major are you in?

I'm doing a PhD in "applied" math, so I guess we're kinda in the same boat, except that I'm almost ¾ of the way thru. During my academic journey I've become disillusioned with academia too. I probably have even less useful real-life skills than you. That said, I don't actually hate doing or teaching math, I just hate all the concomitant bullshit.
I want to drop out, but I also have no other alternative. I don't have any other skills because I've wasted my life on tests.
I think you're exaggerating a little here. Unless people went to school for something very practical like plumbing, the specific skills they were taught are probably useless on the job market. I'm pretty sure most specific skills you need for a desk job have to be learned on the job anyway. By doing a PhD you're showing yourself to be smart, which can be valuable in and of itself, because some employers surely want smart employees for cetain jobs and smart people ain't exactly a dime a dozen.

Besides, even if you're right, reluctantly continuing your PhD will only exacerbate the issue. Unless you want to try and begrudgingly continue in academia for the rest of your life (which sounds like a horrible idea to me) your best opinion is plainly to stop "wasting more time" in your words and try to get a real job ASAP.

So, no matter how you spin it, you should probably try getting a sense of what you really want to do and what's possible in that direction. That it, unless you want to postpone the inevitable for as long as possible like yours truly.
Almost everyone in my research group is in a relationship (my supervisor's wife is in the group) and it drives me crazy.
If this is the crux of the issue, however, you're fucked. No matter where you go, many of your coworkers will be in relationships.

High education is commercialised.

cut your looses and drop this shit. There is nothing for incels in colleges, universities or high school. Go find a job.

I gotta phd in blackpill studies

How many years do you have left? It's it only 3 years and the school is paying for it, I would stick it out

There's a reason why CEO's are disproportionately 6 feet+ tall. Studying and being skillful means nothing, connections are everything.

if its not STEM related you should just drop out ASAP, but if it is at least you can live comfortably

I thought math majors had a easy time finding work with a masters. Too lazy to do research but wouldn’t any analysis or finance field take you in a heartbeat?
