With the release of 4 (the original) it turned into crap.
really? i played all fixed camera angle RE games and i loved them but I also believe they ran their course. I welcomed the re4 switchup. U dont like anything about it?
personally i got tired of inventory management, backtracking heavy puzzle solver focus. Combat gameplay was minimal, just bring enough bullets and unlock doors. (I still like all the tank control games, I just dont wanna play the same thing for 15 games in a row)
 
It's surreal for sure. Why is it so shocking or immoral to them that men might like seeing attractive women...

I did not like the original tank control resident evil games because of the controls obviousely.

Those sucked.

I liked the story, the zombie part and some of the puzzles.

RE 4 was sold as a third person shooter but ultimately had the same shooting mechanics except that this time you could aim where ever you wanted.

Leon was not based but incredibly cheezy. The whole story and characters where cheezy af.

Code Veronica X started it all with their over the top, schizo main boss.

Also, RE4 has horribly executed QTEs everywhere and the boss fights are scripted af as well.

Each time I explain to people why the game was NOT ahead of its time they cannot even bring a single counter argument.

They just keep their mouths shut and hate me in silence.

The scripted boss fights, for example, don't allow for smart solutions.

I don't know whether I have already done it or not but I will make a thread eventually where I will explain in full detail why the game is just bad and why people don't necessarily have poor taste but are instead looking at it through nostalgia glasses.

Like, I like certain games from my past a lot, but I know their flaws, their short comings and acknowledge them when pointed out, no problem.

If if you dare say ANYTHING negative about RE4 the braindead masses will chase you with pitchforks and torches, ironically like the Ganados in RE4.

And btw, I have beaten the whole game including these side missions or whatever on Professional, unlocked everything and beaten every stage in Mercenaries mode.
So, I know a thing or two about the game.

For example, remember U-3? That enemy you can't even take out with the rocket launcher during the labyrinth part, which is otherwise capable of taking out any other enemy.
And why? Because it's scripted. So you unlock the rocket launcher for the purpose of getting through faster, better and safer, just to be mogged by a scripted boss fight.

And don't get me started on Verdugo. Another scripted boss fight.
There you are locked in a room with him until the elevator arrives. Yet when you play through the game for the first time and try to conserve ammo by playing it smart and evading him until that elevator comes in four minutes, that simply never happens.

The arrival of the elevator depends on when you beat Verdugo, not actual four minutes passing.

So I was sitting there for the first time, started my stop watch and evaded his attacks for ten minutes to be safe, only to finally quit it and beat him.
And then, the elevator is there, after some ten minutes.

You could beat him in one second and the elevator would arrive immediately after.

Needless to say that I felt scammed.

And don't get me started on the Krauser fights. How anyone can enjoy this is beyond my understanding.

Yeah so what you have good reaction times and can press the right button combos in time?
You're still barely doing anything yourself.

And when you figure out that your knife is more powerful than any other weapon except for the rocket launcher and Chicago Typewriter you feel extra scammed.

People say that it's obvious that you are supposed to kill Krauser with the knife but you being a logical person don't even consider the knife being the strongest weapon, all of a sudden, in this fight, so you use the best you have and learn to hate this stupid game.

It is a very lazy game for it's time and every RE game I have played so far felt just as lazy, tbh.

Capcom just either cannot get the controls right or they don't want to because the stupid gaymers will eat that slop up anyway.
They have also redconned pretty much the whole story with Requiem.

I mean, the same people who shit on Resident Evil 6 enjoy Leon's campaign in Resident Evil 9.

Make it make sense, man.

These gaymers are blinded af.

I was also very surprised at how quickly the knife beats krauser (2 slashes are worth 200 smg shots)

dynamic gameplay loop. Stun zombie depending on weakness, kick or dmg to the ground, knife, reposition, repeat. This for many seems revolutionary to the genres raise gun, press shoot, and step back with tank controls to give more space to repeat. Enemies tend to have some expoloitable weaknesses so nothing in your arsenal should ever feel useless.
WHERE you shoot the enemy matters highly in this game, which is enabled by 3d environment.
Decent replayability value cause you can use entirely different guns and upgrade them for exlusive perk.
Very long linear campaign experience with like 25 different enemies, not reusing assets or levels which a lot of games did if they wanted a longer game.
Villain talking shit to the protagonist and back and forth via intercom is a fun and funny concept imo.
Well implemented escort mission segment that doesnt seem cumbersome cause ashley actually sticks to your back end.
Game manages to give freedom of movement and overseeing areas with 3d camera yet still manages to somewhat maintain original difficulty of not getting over-run due to enemies being numerous and surrounding u and the controls being deliberately a little stiff.
The very concept of sentient parasite controlling them is a different take on zombieism. Ppl like halo's flood similarly imo.
Inventory space no longer 70% used up with puzzle items.
Lots of ppl enjoy Leon aura farming. Personally i agree its a bit cheezy.

I actually dislike Ada and other RE girlboss moments for this reason. I tolerate Leon because for the most part he just does stuff. But Ada, remake Claire (and i havent played anything past 5 yet but im sure its prevalent) have to make a statement out of it (they are the strong femme that solve everything while having a vagina, inkie)
