carbon dating is a prettty precise method

Thats what they want you to believe, it can miss for over a 1k year by their own saying, while actually is just poking in dark. Carbon dating is just a theory, same like everything else. Everyone tries to convince you that science in based in facts, when actually its not, they start by believing into something and then trying to shape and fit things into it. When something doesnt makes sense they come up with a scifi theory which would explain the already not proven theory. Not much different from the religion.

Do. you understand the concept of a scientific theory? Gravitation (gravity) is 'just a theory'. For something to become a scientific theory and nt just a hypothesis there needs to be well substantiated evidence.

Im not much into science but gravity is observable, the most of the other things are not.
