It's good to have both. I have hundreds of ancient PC games from the 90s, but I also have thousands of games on Steam, and one of the reasons why is because I have a feeling that Steam might shut down, rendering my games unplayable. Also, the hundreds of old PC games might come into place real well if I decide to go AWOL and live off grid.

I doubt Steam will die off anytime soon. Epic is just trying to penetrate a market that is already oversaturated with other launchers (GOG.com, EA, etc.), and they haven't diversified their own launcher enough to entice the older generation to mutiny. I also firmly believe Fortnite will still suffer the same fate Pokémon Go had, so their one cash cow should be out the door within the next few years anyway.
That's just me, though.
