Please. Stop. With. This. Shit.
Here's a few reasons why:
1) Love is about innate chemistry, not rationally weighing pros and cons of a person like an accountant. That was done perhaps in the Middle Ages, but now relationships in the modern world are based on mutual attraction. Women, if a man irrationally dislikes your voice or your face, know that getting a black belt in judo and learning how to cook probably won't be enough to change his feelings about you, especially if he has other options. I see no reason to believe the reverse doesn't hold true.
2) Self-improvement is actually a natural process. When people cease to self-improve it usually means they have become clinically depressed. Insisting on the necessity of self-improvement is merely stigmatizing depressed people further, by calling them lazy and entitled and thus adding insult to injury.
3) Not everything can be solved by self-improvement. A midget's height can't be solved by self-improvement.
4) The current state of academic psychological research actually supports the view that looks are the most important factor in dating.
