The history of it is fascinating... Bro.

Way back in the 1970s various martial arts magazines started being popular. ~ Due to the rise of martial arts schools becoming popular...

(I did it too!)

Anyway, at the time various mail order cheap guns stopped being sold. And folks still wanted cheap small weapons...

Hence ninja weapons were invented!

However, IRL history shows ninja clans (extended families much like American Indians clans) were doing various stealthy stuff like spying and assassinations.

But mostly they looked like everyone else.

They were not as presented in American media. They were more like the standard spies of any other culture.

Sure they had strange "task specific" weapons. And multi tool type weapons....

But mostly they just used whatever was available.
