The Chinese are unparalleled at reverse engineering that's why they have high production numbers, in the SEZs they force foreign companies to collaborate with local companies, that way knowledge transfer happens and they could make their own products and eventually compete with other countries. There is a Chinese prototype of almost everything, Cars, Phones, Search Engines, Firearms, High-speed trains, Drones, AI tech and Medical Equipment to name a few.
