I met him once when they played in Norway. Nice guy, but his work with dream theater left a lot to be desired. His fast the fast-pased monorythmic(16th notes) solos are about as harmonic as his face. Kevin moore mogged him musically and creatively. Images and words was cool as fuck, but sadly its reputation was tainted by DT's later works.
