There’s no reason to be on consoles at this point.
I sincerely hope that the backlash will be great enough to force them to reverse the decision but like everything else, nothing ever happens

Of course this news comes out once GTA announces there won't be a disc. Yet another thing we can blame on fatstar gaming.
Instead of using the need for larger storage as an opportunity to work on new technology to store larger games in a package which can be sold and is safe from.piracyz as Sony used to do, they simple get rid of physical media.
Sony is regressing.
In fact they all are, because they are not even competitors.
They are just sharing the market, like Mafia families, making deals among each other and giving us the illusion of choice between Xbox, Playstation and Nintendo, just like Republicans, Democrats and Libertarians.
It's just so funny.
In Germany for example we have two great stores, Media Markt and Saturn. Unsuspecting normgroids think that they are competitors but they in fact belong to the same group, the Meteo group.
Their prices are also identical, jfl.

I miss the console war
I miss the era where video game makers cared about, you know, games.
Same, I also miss the days when console manufacturers would design their own CPUs and GPUs, like the emotion engine, the Cell Processor and such.
But tbh, they've mostly used CPUs from other manufacturers like Motorola, IBM, ATI etc. .
Nowadays all console have the same PC hardware, which in theorie should make PC ports easier and better.
Paystation died when Yoshida got laid off, this company is not the same as the one we grew up loving, this is just an evil corporation now

Game companies push a 50GB "patch" on the launch day. Not that I agree with that practice, but I guess it's a net-negative for Sony.
Yeah, I remember buying a game on disc just to be met with an update of several GBs at home, for which I've had to wait for a while.
Console gaming just is not the same anymore. It's worse.
Back then you'd put in the disc, wait for it to boot, click through the menu, start the story / mission, wait during the loading screen and start playing.
Nowadays you put in the disc, get to the home screen, click to install the game, wait for it to install, which is slow regardless of how fast your internet connection is, then download additional updates, boot the game and then to the same as above.
Nowadays we have to wait longer to do the same, which is to play a game.
And then, if you lose connection to the internet for some reason, your game will immediately show you a message and in the game I am playing atm, OFFLINE BTW, you can't continue playing when that happens since the game itself needs to be always online.
Ridiculous.
Yes, I can set my xbox one to my home xbox, but if the games themselves have the always online "feature" baked in, then that remains unaffected from the xbox being my home xbox. Those games will still demand me to be always online.
Because of that alone, I just might sell all my consoles and xbox one games, tbh.
Why even have a disc based console, with games on disc if you cannot truely play offline.
Even Steam lets you play completely offline.
They really are. I have already seen the signs during the xbox 360 / PS3 era.
The disks are just glorified game keys.
I hate being all doom and gloom, but for me the golden age of gaming has long since passed.
I am glad that PC are nowadays even good enough to emulate PS4 and XBOX One.
But imo many of the game which I play come from seventh gen of consoles and before that.
Only a few are eighth gen games.

I knew this was coming, but I thought they'd delay it by a generation more. Still gonna buy physical.
Yeah, I will definately be getting a pc and pirating everything, game collecting was literally the only reason why I ever had a console.
