Same here arranged marriages seemed insane when I was a kid but as I got older I began to understand why they are the standard model in most places in most times.

From my upper middle class high school, about 50% of the women never marry and have a family. Sadly most never really even have boyfriends either. They just stay single waiting to marry Chad, until it is too late, and even then they don't just find a boyfriend. They just stay single.
