I refuse to believe that physical attractiveness mattered for males in any significant fraction of our ancient past.

We did not evolve as the smartest animal on the planet by selecting men for their aesthetics.

In fact, I would argue that the very fact that Chad represents the minority of men is proof that he does not represent the optimal male fitness.

Female sexual desire used to not matter much. I tend to believe that it only mattered to the extent that females could momentarily escape the surveillance of their husband and mate with Chad. This has always possible, but was risky and episodic.
