I had to drive my grandma somewhere today and holy fuck, she was so fucking terrible at navigating me the way its insane. She kept giving me wrong directions even though she was at the place we drove to hundreds of times. Eventually i had to call my parents to they could give me the right directions because Google Maps didnt work properly. My grandma is sometimes so retarded its insane, always takes so long to describe something or to find the right words.

Yeah, I feel your burden.... Both my grandma and my dad have incipient dementia. It is worse with my grandma, but also noticable with my dad (he's in his 60s).

My dad handles it quite well, but he can't grasp complicated concepts and can't differentiate between a statement and a fact. My grandma is just losing memories and can't do any math. I don't know about her orientation, but it probably sucks too.

Be patient and treat her with respect even if it is tough. Remember that she's still your grandmother, just try to ignore her retardation. And make it as comfortable as possible for her.

If you don't believe in it then you don't believe in it. Treat it in an utilitarian way though, she gives you lodging which is better than having to pay 1000 Euros for your own flat.
