No.. memory and IQ are completely separate. Memory is your ability to retain information, IQ your ability to interpret and *understand* that information.

For example, a software developer does not need to memorize the entire C standard library to be proficient in C, in fact it's more useful to memorize how to access information quickly without retaining it, then it is to memorize the information itself. In the age of instant references via Google, wikipedia, etc, memory is less relevant than IQ.

I've encountered many people over my years with excellent memory, but horrible capacity to actually understand it. It's the thin line between genius and insane.

from personal exp you can improve your memory. read some books on it and realized i wasn't sleeping the best and i have to do things to actually train it. still not the best but have ot say it's much much better than it was.

No.. complexity can be done in many ways. Take for instance an investigator.. mapping references on the wall like in the movies. You don't need to *retain* the information, you simply need to know how to access the relevant information when it becomes relevant. It does not need to all reside in your head, and if it does you are incredibly likely to have made a mistake, or see connections where there are none or other countering information not considered. Retained information is wasted memory, especially nowadays.

I do have good memory when things interest me enough and I pay attention, the problem is that it rarely happens with really useful things.
