Yeah, more than half, as the replacement rate is 2.1 per woman (to account for infant mortality and children dying). But the fact that it's plummeting from a nuclear high makes it so much worse. If the fertility rate was 4.5 in the '80s, and it's plummeted to 1.5 now, it means that there'll be 3 times as many 45 year olds as 5 year olds. Which means, in 20 years, there will be 3 times as many 65 year olds as 25 year olds. Meaning the 25 year olds will have to pay for the pensions and healthcare of 3 people each, with their taxes. The only solution to this is immigration. Consequently, East Asia will likely embrace mass immigration ten times more than the west has.
