Strictly speaking, they can’t have one because they signed the Nuclear Nonproliferation Treaty. They could pull out of it, but they haven’t yet.

Personally, it wouldn’t necessarily be an existential crisis if they did get one and I don’t think it would be worth fighting a war to stop them from getting one.
