I have to agree. I would say most people - even normal people - are waiting for some kind of collapse that would fundamentally change our way of life. However, I don’t believe the West is going to collapse, at least not in a Walking Dead type of scenario. What we will see, instead, is a slow social disintegration and economic stagnation and slight decline later on.

Our lives will become slightly more miserable than they are now. Declining birth rates will shrink the economy, people will be more isolated, etc.

That said, there are two things that could significantly change our future, even if not on a fundamental level: disruptions in food and water supply due to climate change and, as @justuseless mentioned, AI.

Lots of things are happening. War in Europe is big, the breakup with China is big.

As long as there is food to eat, water to drink, money to spend, the rich will continue to maintain their authority and status and breezy lives of consuming unapologetically and greedily. Until that comes to a complete stand still nothing will ever happen and sadly self preservation and the idea of false hope is dangled in the face of workers like a carrot they're not likely to stop anytime soon. As soon as the world stops and people decide to stand up to the government and say NO we aren't doing this shit anymore nothing is going to happen. Most people are cowards and the ones that actually have a backbone are too busy fighting pointless fucking wars and dying. Everything is working as intended.

Nothing ever happens because the grand design keeps it so. Everything we are told WILL happen is fear mongering that makes people continue to keep going thinking something terrible might happen. When they say these things like you stated, they're merely threatening us because they know that the people are the greatest weapon and their biggest adversary.

The main issue is to keep the foids happy and the rich happy. Foids are 50%, and rich men are, say, 20% of men. This is a majority. The bottom 80% of men is just 40% of the population. We are at the bottom 50% of men -- 25% of the population. So 25% of the population is unhappy, with no hope -- we are a minority. Their is no reason for change.
