This is the rule of thumb. 5+ mentalcels are only incels because they don't try, or only try through means in which they aren't good-looking enough to succeed (Tinder for instance).

It also seems like what constitutes "getting something" is really inconsistent and full of issues. The idea that looks don't matter or matter as much because women occasionally briefly settle for or hook up with 5-6 guys isn't really combatting the blackpill. There is some notion that because some women might settle for you if the stars are aligned then it was within your capability to keep her, much less have a fulfilling relationship. Also, just because some truecels may be so beaten down by desperation that such a life is desired, if they ever actually had it, they would feel as empty as they do now and would still be taking the blackpill.

Seconding this. Being 5/10 with no other benefits will not get you a GF in 2018. Not even close. You have to be 7/10 facially minimum with no other halos (height, money, super-NT) to have a chance. At 5/10, you have to have the above halos just to have a shot.

If you see 4/10 or 5/10 men in the rating thread (I have a secret theory this is a containment thread but that's for another post), that's because that doesn't cut it anymore. It may have cut it 20 years ago, but not today. Not with feminism, tinder, or white knights inflating SMVs.

More than one way to end up incel. If anything, my situation only makes me hate more the men who froze me out of life growing up; still doesn't absolve foids of anything.
