Because there's no escape from politics anymore is there. Gaming used to be a huge escape for me.

It also occurs to me that many things are to some degree compromised in this way. The distribution platforms, the game engines... loads of things. So it's very hard to escape from.

Unfortunately, game development used to be the domain of nerds and truecels who literally had to build their own game engines and learn to be creative with the limited technology they had.

Now the field is filled with untalented people trained to be activists wherever they go and who consider throwing some ugly slop on a screen as an accomplishment.

Yeah it's a shame.

I wouldn't even mind that much but there aren't many places you can escape to.

Possibly some foreign games (like from China) or really small indie games.

The world has become really bizarre over the last 10 years and it's becoming harder to deal with as it stretches on for longer and longer.
