Recently I’ve been feeling desire to LDAR at some MMORPG like I used to do a lot during middle school, and it got me thinking – I’ve been thinking a lot about finding some fellow socially inept/weird retards to talk with and whatnot, has anyone found some buddies in multiplayer games or gaming servers? What were your experiences interacting with such communities/people there?

I usually barely talk with anyone in videogames, I mostly play these as if they were singleplayer lol.

Anyway, some MMORPGs I’ve been meaning to try out or come back to:

-World of Warcraft, most popular MMORPG in its heyday, nuff said.
-Nostale, I remember ads for it being spammed on obscure polish flash games websites + it looks cutesy.
-Vindictus, there was this pack of NPCs for gmod from this game that I like, I heard that combat is good.
-Warframe, I spend a lot of hours playing it in middle school and liked it, kinda pozzed and censored but it’s probably the only popular grinding game that still gets huge updates other than PoE.
-Star Wars: The Old Republic, played it a bit, surprisingly fun but the focus on dialogues and Drakensang-tier crafting system turned me away early.
-DC Universe Online, I’ve been soyjacking about DC a bit ever since I played Arkham series so I’ve been meaning to try it.
-Everquest I/II, one of the first more popular MMORPGs in history, I’m curious about it.
-Drakensang Online, I used to play it a lot, what eventually turned me away was that it had this over-complicated crafting system that made improving your items miserable.
-Lotr Online, I remember this video:

-Stalcraft or Stay out, I like S.T.A.L.K.E.R

What are you playing?

My MMORPG obsessions were SWTOR 2016-17, Star Trek Online 2018 and Elder Scrolls Online 2019-2020. I understand the need to submerge yourself in a fantasy world where you have atleast some illusion of control - something i completely lack IRL.

-Lotr Online, I remember this video:

This video is an absolute classic, i remember watching it and finding it absolutely hilarious even before I could properly understand English :feelshaha:

Don't play online games really. Played a bit in the past. Never used Voice chat. Too high inhib for that. Never made any friends. I use to hear people in lobbies sending each other friend requests. It's the same shit online or real life. If you have friends online you will have friends irl and vice versa. It's the same everywhere really wherever human interaction takes place Ofcourse applies to this forum as well. In the end its just me and the 4 four walls of my room to give me company.

Shit, this post is a month old and it barely now gets any traffic. This fucking site, man!

Heh, not that long ago I came to conclusion that the real "fantasy" in all of these games is that you can engage in sort of hierarchy where your position is actually proportional to the grind you put in and it's clear what you have to do to get better stats.

Closest I ever played was neverwinter on my console many years back(might play again) & also Destiny I+II online

I heard WoW has been normified. In fact, apparently some normies have stories of meeting their GF or friend through it

I did actually. He is from the USA. Unfortunately it seems that he has died. He had been seriousely ill for the last three years, even lost one lung to cancer.

He had battled several infections and had been hospitalized severall times for several weeks.

We've known each other for around ten years, and we've known each other well.

I have got his phone number but can't reach him anymore.

He hasn't been online on steam ever since. We are still friends there. He has never blocked and or deleted me.

It is a shame. I considered him my role model and sort of a mentor too, bot just a friend.

We've had great times gaming. It was a wild and interresting ride. I miss him dearly and hope that whereever he is, he is fine.
