One thing I don't like about Vito's post is how he generalizes about us: a few people say predatorial or hateful things and he talks as if we ALL said it or support it.
Yet if we say "IT said" we're making the same mistake. We should not generalize that what one IT member says applies to all of them, we should address them as individuals.

To classify people as wanting or not wanting reasonable dialogue is IMO a false dichotomy.
Our desire for this comes in degrees, it is like a spectrum.
I believe deep down there is at least some small part of a person which desires this.
The problem IMO is just this might lose out to competing priorities when dictating what people think or what they choose to say.
So even if someone is being dominated by bad motives (IE they just want to vent frustration, to troll, to get approval from their community) there is still a part of them under the surface one could reach.
People with inadequate intelligence or vocabulary perceive a lot of things as gibberish.
This could, for example, apply to many lurking graycel newfags trying to comprehend the conversation you and I are engaged in right now.
You have those who write 'TLDR' and others who just skim past looking for clickbait and basic convos.
In a case like that, there is a propensity to dismiss attempting to process a particular paragraph or poster.
At the same time, I think even when we don't comprehend something we often still desire to understand a tiny bit of it.
This could lead to some attempt, some small bit of comprehension getting through.
Also even for those who don't choose to engage in good dialogue, I believe while you may not provoke intelligent responses overtly (what they say back to you in that moment) you could still get the wheels turning under the surface which causes good changes in them long-term.
It's good that you like to believe in people, there's a thing tho and it's called being a bad person/assholes. Those exists and over in IT i think there's a multitude of them. They don't care about what you have to say, they believe they already know what you are and will dismiss you. It's more of an ego "im right" thing than trying to actually understand, people that want to understand are not on IT. you mare reach a few, but you have to bear in mind if its worth the effort.
I'm happy you can be so positive like that, thought in my experience people like being in the right and don't like being wrong. So you may succed with a small ammount of people, but you have to bear in mind that IT are salty individuals. Also there's edgy posters there as well, we incels and inceltear members are like two sides of the same coin actually. Nope, also a false dichotomy: everyone is an asshole to SOME degree. Everyone is 'bad' in some context, but obviously in differing quantities.

I think actually most IT people (who aren't trolling, hard to say wht % that is) consciously think they want to understand and like most NPCs are probably unaware of their own mental blocks.
We of course could have the same flaw, nobody's immune to having blind spots. I'm sure I still have lots however many I manage to break down.
I'm really not, I'm a huge pessimist and it's a struggle to try and remind myself of this possibility because it is very tempting to write certain groups off.
I think many on IT succumb to this temptation with us and it's sad but even those who give in to temptation to ignore could have revelations in future.
