Having fair skin is associated with beauty. It is an evolutionary advantage to be attracted to light skin, as light skinned people are less able to hide their emotions and their sicknesses - their skin shows it more. Dark skin is inherently deceptive - you don't know what sickness it may be hiding. Without blushing, you have one less visual cue to read emotions, making dark skin more secretive.
