women won't face backlash for having ridiculously high standards but men get flak for having any standards at all. this is because women are expected to be selective because people consider it natural and because men pursue, women get pursued, so women have a lot of men pursuing them (all these options) and thus are expected to be selective. Men are expected to have low standards to increase the number of women they pursue because women are expected to be selective. that's why this double standard exists.
