Restrictions and mistreatment against women by the Taliban include:
1- Complete prohibition of female labor outside their homes, which also applies to teachers, engineers and other professionals. Only a few female doctors and nurses are allowed to work in some hospitals in Kabul.
2- Complete prohibition of any type of activity of women outside the home unless accompanied by their mahram (close male relationship as father, brother or husband).
3- Prohibition of women from closing deals with male merchants.
4- Prohibition of women from being treated by male doctors.
5- Prohibition of women from studying in schools, universities or any other educational institution (the Taliban have turned schools for girls into religious seminars).
6- Requirement for women to wear a long veil (burqa), which covers them from head to toe.
7- Whips, beatings and verbal abuse against women who do not dress according to the Taliban rules or against women who are not accompanied by their mahram.
8- Whipping in public against those women who do not hide their ankles.
9- Public stoning against women accused of having sex outside marriage (a large number of lovers are stoned to death under this rule).
10- Prohibition of the use of cosmetics (many women with painted fingernails have had their fingers amputated).
11- Prohibition of women from speaking or shaking hands to men other than mahram.
12- Prohibition on women to laugh out loud (no stranger should hear a woman's voice).
13- Prohibition on women to wear shoes with heels, which can produce sound when walking (a man cannot hear the steps of a woman).
14- Prohibition of women riding in a taxi without their mahram.
15- Prohibition of women from having a presence on the radio, television or public meetings of any kind.
16- Prohibition of women from practicing sports or entering any sports center or club.
17- Prohibition of women riding bicycles or motorcycles, even with their mahrams.
18- Prohibition on women to wear brightly colored clothing. In terms of the Taliban, these are "sexually attractive colors."
19- Prohibition of women to meet on the occasion of festivities such as the Eids with recreational purposes.
20- Prohibition of women from washing clothes in rivers or public squares.
21- Modification of the entire nomenclature of streets and squares that include the word "woman." For example, the "Women's Garden" is now called "Spring Garden."
22- Prohibition of women from looking out on the balconies of their apartments or houses.
23- Mandatory opacity of all windows, so that women so that women cannot be seen from outside their homes.
24- Prohibition for tailors to take measures for women and sew women's clothing.
25- Prohibition of women's access to public restrooms.
26- Prohibition of women and men to travel on the same bus. The buses are now divided into "men only" or "women only".
27- Prohibition of flared pants, even if worn under the burqa.
28- Prohibition of photographing or filming women.
29- Prohibition of images of women printed in magazines and books, or hung on the walls of houses and shops.
Apart from the previous restrictions on women, the Taliban also:
- Prohibit listening to music, not only women but also men.
- Prohibit watching movies, television and videos, to all people.
- They prohibit celebrating the traditional New Year (Nowroz) on March 21. The Taliban have proclaimed that this aesthetic is pagan.
- They have disallowed the International Labor Day (May 1), because it is labeled a "communist" holiday.
- They have ordered that all that person with a non-Islamic name change it.
- They force Afghan youth to shave their hair.
- They order that the men wear Islamic clothing and wear a cap.
- They order that men not shave or trim their beards, that they should grow long enough to fit into a fist under the chin.
- They order that everyone go to prayers in mosques five times a day.
- Prohibit pigeon care and training of birds, describing them as non-Islamic activities. Those who violate this rule are imprisoned and birds must die. The kite flight has also been banned.
- They force all spectators, when they encourage athletes, to sing Allah-u-Akbar (God is great) giving applause.
