According to the Bible and according to the description of Herodotus, Babylon was the capital of Chaldea (Mesopotamia) and one of the richest cities in the world. It was built by Nimrod, a descendant of Ham (son of Noah). In the XIX–VI centuries BC it was the capital of the Babylonian kingdom and was an indestructible fortress with 250 towers on the walls. Rumor has it judged as the "golden city", "kingdom of kingdoms", "beauty of Chaldea". But now, on the site of the once glorious city, there is a poor Arab village of Gill and mountains of garbage.
Also, many clerics believe that the new Babylon is the United States of America, or more precisely, New York. In their opinion, it is a conglomerate, a mixture of races and peoples who have lost their racial, national, and cultural roots.
In addition, in the Revelation of John the Theologian, the United States is compared to the New Babylon — the capital of the world, surrounded by seas and buying up all the wealth of the world from merchants.
The four pillars of the Babylonian state system were:
- despotic rule;
- supported (and led) pagan priests, magic and the occult, penetrating into all spheres of life (everyday life, religion, science);
- the cult of money;
- debt slavery imposed by money lenders.
