People like this are annoying as fuck. It annoys me when anyone is like this about anything, but it's especially annoying when they do this with anime of all things. Anime is full of absurd premises, contrived shit, plot holes, etc. You just have to accept this if you want to enjoy it. This is not to say it should be exempt from criticism but it's not something that was meant to be autistically analyzed and combed through with a fine tooth comb. Yes, there are going to be moments where a character would have been able to do something (usually involving killing someone) that would quickly and easily help them achieve their goals but would have made the anime much shorter and anti-climatic. You're not smart or a good critic for pointing these moments out.
With these types of people, it really seems like the main appeal of the hobby isn't enjoying the hobby itself, it's about arguing with others and proclaiming you have the superior taste. They see it as a competition and everything they say is an attempt to position themselves as having the most "patrician taste". I also noticed that when you ask these types what their fav anime are, it's always some super obscure anime, usually from 25+ years ago. The chances of them running into anyone who actually watched them are slim, so they can't criticize their taste. And in the off chance they did, they can just shut down the criticism by saying something like "you're just too stupid and simple-minded to appreciate it".
These people are tied with "ironic zoomer weebs" for second place in my "top list of weebs I can't stand". And if you're wondering which weebs got the number 1 spot on that list, it's the "lolicon" weirdos who write their posts in the style of a quirky 11 year old anime girl (4chan, especially r9k, is full of these faggots).
