I’ve noticed some similarities between postmodernist philosophy and the worldviews that blackpillers tend to have
“Postmodernism” is defined as an “intellectual stance or mode of discourse that challenges or disagrees with the values and practices of the modern world”. The traits that postmodernists have:
Famous postmodernist thinkers are mostly Frenchmen: Jean Francois Lyotard, Jean Baudrillard, Michel Foucault (a faggot although was inspired by Nietzschean philosophy), Jacques Derrida, Douglas Kellner
Postmodernists are often depicted as “radical thinkers” due to their non-conformist views of ethics, society, history, politics, science and so on. Postmodernism has been criticized for its obscurantism – The term “postmodernism” is not well understood by normies, the epistemology of postmodernism is vague, and radical ideas of varied nature are prone to be categorized as “postmodernist” (e.g. radical feminism, “far-right nationalism”, existential nihilism, neo-Marxism). It’s hard to say if postmodernist thinkers are blackpilled. But postmodernists tend to have ideas that either criticizes normie society, or comes into direct conflict with the normie consensus
I wouldn’t say that all blackpillers are postmodernist thinkers. But I’ve noticed that the most blackpilled people tend to be in agreement with postmodernist ideas
“Postmodernism” is defined as an “intellectual stance or mode of discourse that challenges or disagrees with the values and practices of the modern world”. The traits that postmodernists have:
- They do not agree with the claim of “objective facts”; they dismiss it as naïve realism. All understanding is dependent on limiting perspectives. They are skeptical of “Truth with a capital T” - They are more concerned about “relative truths”, less concerned about “universal truth”
- They believe “reality” is a mental construct, i.e. they think either “objective reality” doesn’t exist, or they think it cannot be proven that “objective reality” exists
- They describe knowledge and ethical systems as “possibilities or societal constructs”
- They criticize the belief that there are universal standards of morality, truth, human nature, reason, language and social progress
- They doubt the accuracy of popular accounts of history. They believe history is very suspectible to manipulation via false accounts and false narratives
- They are interested in simulacra, aka the imitation of an original thing, and hyperreality, aka an abstraction that either fails to represent reality or distorts reality. They claim the boundary between reality and simulations of reality is harder to recognize (e.g. augmented reality, virtual reality, digital map data, GPS systems)
- They are very critical of organized religion. You would struggle to find a postmodernist thinker who is a devout Christian or Muslim
