I've seen it been used to dissuade members from killing themself. And by the fall they seem to mean just watching things get worse, not really an uprising. Personally I don't think there will be a revolution but the USA looks screwed hard by everything going on.

That's what I was thinking. But maybe the OP meant the same people are still around, but their infrastructures and values rapidly change so he considers the society to be the same but just changed.

It's a stretch to say that the Aztec civilization and the Roman Empire "changed" instead of "fell."
You might as well say that someone didn't "die," he only "changed" into a different state.

The Fall of the Western Roman Empire is a documented event.
