Jaywalking is a viable traversal strategy in cities. Humans are a part of cities. If society wanted to get rid of jaywalking, then we need some sort of state backed street-crossing-on-prescription for those who struggle to cross within "normal" society.
Jokes aside, jaywalking is harmless. Sure it does harm to the cities where it happens, but every time you damage an inanimate object or consume meat products, you are doing something on the same level morally, and it is also a reaction to fundamental underlying problems in society, so it is justified since the cities themselves create those problems.

TLDR: Legalize jaywalking.
