Curryland is mostly safe. Just do your research. Don't be out at night. Go to tourist areas + chain stores/restaurants (less bartering and better hygiene restaurants), expect some service people like rickshaws/cabs/local shops to overcharge you for being foreigner especially if you don't look curry.

As for being jumped for being muslim, that won't happen outside the country side areas. Stay in the cities, for country side areas again do your research.

Brutal but Muslim mob lynch thing is exaggerated. I have an entire curry muslim family there and they haven't gotten lynched yet. But yes they suffer some job discrimination and other issues.

Yes Curryland is mostly filthy. It does have some interesting photogenic areas near Himalayas mountains and other areas. But you will definitely see shitty areas(slums/dirty beggars etc.) en route to good areas.
