The gaming industry lives of Whales. Theres a whole south park episode about it, where stan becomes addicted to a game and invests thousands of dollars despite that the game is actually straight up garbage.

An example for such a trash game that makes people heavily addicted is Genshin Impact. Genshin is available on all mobile devices, you also dont need a Steam account you can play it on all platforms. Furthermore: Its supposed to be free. Its game design - despite that I never played it myself - seems to be rather simly. Just a childish world with cute animals and girly colour palettes - on top of it theres everything a gamer of any gender wants: Chads, Pretty Boys, Femboys, Lolies, MILFs, JBs etc. and the marketing for each of these characters is sky high.

If you want em all you have to spend money - and not to little. Want the best gear, all characters at max level? MORE MONEY.

Besides: Generally speaking everything becomes a gamification. Everything these days is a fucking subscription and taxes are increasing.

Another factor of why games are bigger then movies: Theres a game for anyone but not a movie and especially a lot of lonely people - like myself dont visit the cinema, because whats the point of going there anyway? Its a place to make out with your loved one (girlfriend) but those that got none are rather sitting at home playing games OR watching someone play games.
