I have been struggling with socializing since I was a child. I have tried to overcome it by moving out of my parents' house, sharing an apartment, going to parties, holding presentations etc. But every conversation with strangers causes me to panic like crazy. I even feel like interacting more often makes it even worse somehow, my communication skills have not gotten any better. At this point I do not think I can overcome this myself. I need to find a job in the near future as well. How do I even pass a job-interview like this? As of now, I have been thinking about going to therapy, but I am not sure whether it can actually help me.

Did anybody of you go to therapy and has it helped you in any way (with or without medication)?

I never found it that useful. Its mostly just therapists telling you stop thinking a certain way and they act like that will magically fix all your problems.

therapy is completely worthless IME.

Its somewhat helpful depending how much effort you put into it and if you have a good therapist.

But don't expect a miracle. I've been seeing my therapist like 2 and a half years and I've hardly improved at all

I found meds, recreational drugs, NoFap, exercise, and exposure to be helpful.
Tbh social anxiety is probably the least understood disorder out there

I don't know I just stopped going :feelstastyman:

What do you mean by exercise? Physical or practicing conversations? Sadly, the latter does not seem to improve my social skills, neither does exposure. I just makes me sad to see that I am barely able to have a real social interaction.

yes physical. But if your anxiety is that severe you probably need meds
