Israel has so obviously been baiting them into launching something like this... "We'll definitely strike back if Hezbollah does anything bigger... we're serious guys... don't test us!" By the way, eat these airstrikes.
Netanuahu has been around for a long time and knows he can't hang in there for ever. He's succeeded in turning Gaza into a gravel quarry, he knows that if he fucks up Hezbollah into a similar state his domestic status as a total fucking legend is assured.
He knows Iran will never go all in because they don't want to get nuked. He obviously backs himself to be able to take on Hezbollah. Why wouldn't he? The army are 100% mobilized and combat experienced now.
