This shouldn't surprise anybody, really. IQ, like physical traits, is hereditary. Two dummies having a genius child is as rare as two average height individuals having a giant child who is 6ft when they're 10 years old. They're both genetic anomalies. But odds are good that your estimated IQ will converge to the range of your parents' average IQ, or like everything else, lean towards one parent.

The right environment can help enrich and maximize the child's genetic cognitive potential, just like having a child gifted with athletic genes getting involved in sports at an early age.
