Most people assume that the world is pretty straightforward but they dont realize how much of what they perceive is their projection, conditioning, etc. So much of the structure of the world is pressuposed. For example that when you close your eyes the world stays out there, when in fact your experience is just darkness. That when you turn around what is behind you stays the same. Or how when you hear the sound of a car you intuit that there is a car there instead of experiencing the naked sound as it is. Or when you touch something, that the sensorial experience of touch corresponds to the visual sight of your hand touching the object, and not that the two are independent coincidental phenomena. If you withdraw your projections and let yourself sink into pure experience you learn to distinguish what is genuinelly Other and what is the work of the Self. Much is relative to subjective states of mind, and being able to manipulate the relative according to will is the work of the magician
