Media Interesting vid criticising ‘vent threads’ and self hating NEETs

Yeah I have definitely talked about this before. Neets have it better than 99% of the population. "waa waa I feel like a failure *munch munch* oh man these doritos or so good" jfl. Either get a job, kill yourself, or STFU and stop complaining about your comfy life

There's a difference between short term unemployment and people who make it their entire identity and refuse to improve themselves in any way

This rhetoric of ‘you should be ashamed’ made me realise something about ‘self hating NEETs’ like me

People who hate themselves do acknowledge that they’re wrong, but bettering yourself requires an invested interest in improving yourself. If you’re just someone who just does what is expected of them (school, work) instead of doing shit for themselves (what degree/career path you choose, favourite sports, social clique, personal interests) you will always hate yourself

Even self-improvement tends to involve ‘chores’ in an attempt to be ‘acceptable’ as a person. There’s no specificity or personal identity to it, just be likeable be fit be strong be generically good. If you don’t fit these arbitrary standards of good you’re worthless

Think of someone who’s great at maths and the sciences + enjoys studying it yet if someone (parents) places expectations on them to study hard, they end up burning out and doing jackshit. The personal investment is gone and it becomes a chore you must do for someone else. Forget about having your own desires or goals

Eventually doing things for yourself makes you selfish or entitled. It’s better to do nothing for yourself.

He even plays into this with ‘you are so privileged to be NEET make use of your time’ trying to make you feel ashamed and place a sense of urgency. However this only leads to further self hatred and bedrotting.

What I’m saying is shame and stress can only get you so far, since eventually your brain realises that self hatred is far easier than putting in effort. Personal desire and motivation is far more effective in the long term.
