So i js found out after the Irl-CART split (if any oldcels remember, do tell abt it) niggas at irl actually ran crossplane 4 liter v8s for a couple years (pushrod too lol, all bcs of costs ofc), its as if nascar made a open wheel series

It was so much like nascar they had Mike Joy on booth JFL

Fron what ive read, the whole IRL thing was a disastER (its one of the main reasons american open wheelers i.e Indycar still are relatively niche on a grand scale despite being objectively bettER racing than formula jew) but the cars still had coomfuel tier sound tho (mogs modern F1 to mumbai )

Yes it's a bit incongruous watching open wheeler wings & slicks race cars that sound like chevs. Too bad they can only go around left-handed curves.

I lost interest in F1 during the Hakkinen/ Schumacher era... those cars were beautiful, 18k RPM V10s, but the racing was boring as shit, the top guys were just robots who never made mistakes, so the race was a procession and the starting grid order was the finishing order, unless someone's pit strategy bombed hard or there was a gear failure. Occasionally there would be some actual racing for 7th or 8th place, between some of the B-tier guys who weren't robots and sometimes presented each other with passing opportunities.

Yeah IRL's purpose was OVALS, and you still saw that influence as late as the IR-05 car b4 we got the Dallara DW-12 of today

Yeah and now with 2026, its js even WORSE (losing speed on straights bruh), and its now more battery management than actual wheel to wheel racing

indycar rn is looking real good especially with how all the races so far have been great, favorite race so far was phoenix.

I have a lotta finds like these, and they will keep coming, it depends on whenever im free tho since ive got cuckllege and exams
