Aside from karma whoring, it's crystal clear that the main reason for the sub's existence is these people's fear of the blackpill. They're insecure about what they know in the back of their minds is the truth.
And like all insecure non-critical thinkers, they cozy up to argumentum ad populum in hopes of convincing themselves that this bleak outlook is not reality. If they can just surround themselves with people who can convince them of what they want to hear, everything will be OK.
It's no different than turning to other churchgoers to convince you there is a God and that if you do the right thing, you'll go to heaven.
But you do it under the guise of laughing at the heretics because you don't want your peers to know that you are actually insecure about it and looking for reassurance.

Heretic: I see a lot of cognitive dissonance here. You can not explain the cruelty in the universe by saying that God works in mysterious ways. If God is omnipotent and benevolent, he would not cause his creations to suffer.
