The best systems are ones that are moderate between full blown communism and unbridled unregulated capitalism.

Communism creates massive incentive problems where people don’t bother to apply themselves or work hard or make things — they do only the bare minimum because if they do more it’s not like they get to see the fruits of those labors — it’s taken away and given to someone else. Look at China before they modernized and scaled back some of the more shitty policies. Farming yields exploded when the farmers were allowed to keep just a bit more of their harvest.

On the other end of things if you don’t regulate capitalism it eventually turns into a very big problem. Monopolies dominate and wealth is consolidated into the hands of very few people. The system basically turns into serfdom 2.0 — in many ways this is what the USA is becoming. You also get other bad things like child labor because the bottom line is all the matters. You need to regulate capitalism and have also finance things like higher education, health care and so on. The USA really doesn’t do either of these things — it’s kind of the most backwards first world country in some ways but at least free speech is better here than in say Germany. Though it’s still not great…

so the best system is a mixed economy, which is what most countries already have? I know that communist countries in the past ended up going to shit, but that's because the leaders cared about power more than communism. but their heart was in the right place, look at how far china and the ussr got despite its negatives.

How about the fact that under communism; I'd be forced to do hard labor to provide for the same globohomo that we all hate? Not paying income tax is one of the biggest reasons I became a NEET to begin with.
