I personnally have a free debit card and most of the time I use cash. Even my colleagues seem richer than me when it comes to that. Some even think I'm poor just because my free credit card looks like shit. Well, why would I take a more expensive payment option?

I mostly use cash IRL and EPS (electronic bank transfer) because it's free for me and the seller. If that's not available, online I use PayPal for convenience and then my "free" credit card. I don't like credit cards as they always make me call them for suspected fraud activity ... because I mainly pay things from the US (mainly porn, but also sometimes other things) with them.

IRL I also use my EC-card (like a debit card) if I don't have enough cash with me.

I also don't care for the fancy card bullshit. How you pay for something shouldn't be that much of a status indicator anyways. That sounds very superfluous.

However, I would pay a very small one time fee if I were able to get a less breakable card. My current cards that my bank gives me aren't very durable and wear and tear easily within a few years or so, so I have to keep replacing them. Even if I am very careful and have cleaned them regularly, I have replaced my cards probably 3 times at least. I would like one that is durable, maybe made out of a harder plastic or even metal if possible.
