Back when I used 4chan I always found tripfags to be annoying as fuck. 99 percent of the time their posts were complete dogshit. I was OK with someone using a tripcode within a single thread if someone was doing an AMA or something (and the thread was actually interesting) so people could keep track of who OP was and then never used that tripcode again on any other threads, but most of the time it was just some narcissist who thought they were special and desperately wanted to be an e-celeb on a fucking anonymous imageboard. Their takes were almost always dogshit too, but even if their post content wasn't objectionable, tripfags just ruin the vibe of an anonymous site. I think for a lot of tripfags, knowing how annoying they were being and how they were ruining the vibe was part of the appeal.

As far as I'm concerned post IDs made tripcodes obsolete. At most you should only have the option to tick a box that will give you a post ID within that thread.

Trying to establish a "brand" around yourself on an anonymous imageboard isn't an "incel trait", it's a narcissistic trait.

Guess so, I more or less use tripcodes to try to make very few new online friend that can be moved into something less anonymous like Discord since I’m a lonely fuck and people who agree with the shit I spew on there are usually the kind who would atleast enjoy my company online; but yeah I can see it as me ruining the whole anon vibe to the board. Not like I make threads myself though
