As a kid I used to love stories about the hero sacrificing themself for the greater good, now that I'm in my blackpill days, I see it completely different. The person who sacrifices themselves are cucks in a sense, giving up their lives so that people who never gave a single shit about them could benefit. At best maybe they'll get a grand funeral and have people cry, but remember that it's temporary, after a week, month or year, the hero will be completely forgotten about by their friends and society, everyone but the selfless and heroic one benefits.
