Fortunately since I live practically in the boonies which is to say in a swampy, heavily forested area THAT won’t be my New Years experience at all when gazing out my window.

100% accurate in my case. Many New Years/4th of July I have been in my apartment reading on the internet or playing MMORPG, when I hear fireworks. Then I look to confirm it is fireworks, then I go back to reading on the computer.
I sleep early so I'll probably put on headphones not to wake up in the middle of the night
