My parents like to do this shit every time we go out. I legitimately cannot browse or look through my phone for a bloody picosecond without being reprimanded in some manner.

Last time this happened was not too long ago during a family vacation to NYC, where my stepdad actually took my phone, claiming that I'm always on it (which was complete bullshit, because I only ever used it when I was on the subway or whenever i took a break). Things got physical with him and I, and I was very close to snapping and throwing hands because he physically restrained me over a goddamn phone.

The worst part? Im the one who gets blamed for all of it for not "complying".

He makes such a huge deal about it since typically I'm either playing videogames/on my phone, but even so he had no fucking right to do what he did, especially since he isn't much of a father figure to begin with.

brutal man. gen x in general are just terrible parental figures.

Many normie parents will exert control over their dependents/kids in order to feel a sense of control or power, as well as to boost their own egos. My parents also used to do this sometimes. It's like they don't want you to cope and they want to force you to participate in normie shit activities where you are humiliated anyways.
