I know what you're talking about. I ran into this when I started boxing. I hit the heavy bag at public gyms and sometimes people would come up and correct my form.. but the thing is I am not a fighter. That's just one example but basically my whole life is people saying I am doing something wrong, especially my dad. A lot of times the correction is something stupid too like what you describe with the pool. Sometimes corrections are warranted but a lot of times it's just idiots trying to feel superior
