When people ask me if I have friends I just say no because friends are for dumb people.

This describes me perfectly. OP must be average or good looking. No-one really asked me about friends or relationships in university, I never had much interaction with people in the first place and they didn't like me because I am actually ugly and autistic unlike OP. So they never really asked me about my personal life, most of them knew I was a loser and didn't want to interact with me. The few people I talked to never cared about me enough to discuss anything outside of academic stuff or general topics.

I actually thought people would ask me about myself and my life back in college and had prepared a whole backstory and social life to talk about (not fake, but an improved version of my life with hobbies and interests), but no one ever cared enough to ask more than a few questions, like where I was from or how old I was.
