One does not simply buy meat and water in Alaska. One kills his own meat and filters his own water. You cut your own heat from tree's.

You either go to town twice a year for provisions or you have them delivered by plane. It costs a lot for 6 months of food at one time plus delivery.

It's doable though

I ride my motorized bicycle and pull a trailer to town once or twice a month. It's about 45 miles round trip. I can carry about 50 pounds of stuff so i have to CHOose wisely! Counting weight as well as cost. Sometimes i make multiple trips if the items are heavy. Like sacks of animal feed, propane, or salt.

While i have a drivers license i refuse to buy a car. If i had a car i could only afford to live in it! I'm really poor.

I studied Alaska survivalism because knowing that stuff lowers my costs. Buy in bulk... Etc... I thought about being a bush pilot when i was younger and healthy! Yes i know how to fly small aircraft!
